For Baldi’s Basics Classic Remastered players, this guide is aimed to teach people how the characters in this game work

Baldi

Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered Complete Character GuideBaldi is the head teacher of Here School, and the main antagonist of the game overall.

Mechanics:

After completing the first notebook and answering all of the problems correctly, Baldi will give you a quarter.
(both Demo Style and Hard Mode play a role)
If you get the first question wrong, Baldi will get upset, spawn behind the middle yellow door of the schoolhouse where you spawn, and start slapping his ruler at you. This is assured, as the question at the *last issue on the second notebook is unanswerable.
(If the Math Machine never hands out more than one problem when not in Hard Mode, there isn’t truly a last problem.)
If Baldi is upset, he will keep slapping his ruler in your direction. It’s game over if you so much as brush against him. For every mathematical error, Baldi’s anger grows. The shorter the time between slaps, the greater the fury. A breakdown of the notebook-specific slap times is provided below.

Number of Notebooks

– With every question answered incorrectly in Traditional and Party Style beyond the initial one per notebook, Baldi temporarily speeds up, until slowing down to the proper speed from the aforementioned list.
– While playing in Demo Style or Hard Mode, Baldi’s speed boosts are instead permanent.
– The third difficulties in the third through seventh notebooks might not be broken and unattainable on Hard Mode. Even if you answer all three questions correctly on those notebooks, Baldi will only gain speed proportionally to the number of notebooks.
– When you answer a question successfully on the third through seventh grade math machines in Demo Mode, he will pause to congratulate you, much like he did in the You Can Think Pad’s Classic and Party Modes. He can’t catch you now, and you may go right on through him. Following a short pause, he shifts his attention to becoming enraged and pursuing you once more, at which point he will act in accordance with the slap interval table and any other incorrect responses he can deduce from your input.
– Almost any noise made by the player is audible to Baldi, as listed in the table below.

Type of Sound

However, the value of the noise is irrelevant if he can still see you when you make it.
– The third notebook onwards (hey, it’s endless) in Endless Mode does not contain any bugged, impossible questions. If you get those three questions right, Baldi will cool down and increase the time between slaps.
– For every second you go without grabbing a notebook in Endless Mode, Baldi’s slap interval shortens, making him increasingly difficult to keep up with.
– You can prevent Baldi from hearing any of the noises listed in the table above or activating the *Baldicator by using a cell phone or Baldi’s least favorite tape.
(for the record, the Baldicator is the wandering baldi head in the lower right corner of the table shown above that appears whenever any noise is produced. A positive expression indicates that Baldi has given it high importance. But, a puzzled frown indicates that there is more background noise for him to ignore. *
– You should remember that his disappearance is not impossible. You need only disappear from the Baldicator’s line of sight and travel a considerable distance away.

Principal Of The Thing

Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered Complete Character Guide

Principal Of The Thing is the other head school faculty in Here School Backrooms, and a top supporting character.

Mechanics:

– The Thing’s Principal Whistles Sometimes. But if he already knows you breached the rule and hasn’t ordered you to detention, this won’t be the case. The whistling will resume once he does.
– If you do something wrong while Principal Of The Thing can see you, he will chastise you and chase you quicker than you can go. Principle Of The Thing doesn’t use noise values or the Baldicator, just his line of sight, therefore missing him is totally doable and far easier than losing Baldi.
– Principle Of The Thing has established the following guidelines that must be adhered to:
Defining the Rule:
There will be no alcoholic beverages
There’s no way to get out of detention (right now, only It’s A Bully can get in trouble for bullying, as you’ll see).
The Principal Of The Thing will immediately teleport you and himself to the Principal’s Office, where he will announce your detention for the specified periods of time listed below.
In order to keep students from leaving or entering the principal’s office during detention, the door is locked.
– When Principal Of The Thing sees It’s A Bully and you, and if you’re close to It’s A Bully, Principal Of The Thing will reprimand It’s A Bully for bullying; It’ll then vanish and Principal Of The Thing will resume his travels.
– When the lights go out, Principle Of The Thing’s radius light effect will be more impressive than yours.

Playtime

Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered Complete Character Guide

Playtime is a student at Here School, whose favorite activity is to jump rope, despite poor eyesight and short memory.

Mechanics:

The mechanics are as follows: recess is a free-form affair that can be found anywhere in the school building (hallways, cafeteria, etc.) but is rarely seen within classrooms. A constant stream of music from her body is another way she makes her presence known.
– While running, if you are inside Playtime’s short line of sight, she will chase you at a rate just slightly quicker than your own. After you’re out of her sight, she’ll stop caring about you and go on her merry way.
– If Playtime manages to track you down, you’ll have to play a brief game of “jump rope” if you’re caught. At that moment, a jump rope animation will play, and you must jump *5 times in a row.
The jump rope animation is twice as rapid and occurs ten times in a row in Hard Mode.

– In Playtime’s microgame, you can move very slightly in any direction while jumping by simultaneously pressing any of the four directional keys. By holding the run key, your speed gradually increases, but you need still be wary of Principal of the Thing. If you can jump the rope in a row without missing a beat, Playtime will go back to aimlessly wandering around and set you free, too. After a 15-second rest period, she can chase and catch you again during playtime.
– If you use safety scissors or are forcibly relocated far enough away from Playtime, you can avoid the microgame entirely; the identical countdown will still occur, but with Playtime wearing a sad expression. The *Principal Of The Thing will not reprimand you for using the safety scissors.
