The Levels & Tiers

In total there are 18 Fortnite ranked levels to achieve ranging from Bronze all the way up to Unreal. The first 5 Fortnite levels from Bronze to Diamond however have three tiers each that you must work through. Your Fortnite rank has the ability to skyrocket and drop in points depending on how you play.

Points

To rank up, you don’t need to necessarily get a Fortnite Battle Royale every single time that you play ranked. Instead, your levels go by a point system. Winning and getting Battle Royale does help immensely when it comes to points, but you can still earn more Fortnite points by eliminating other players. As a match goes on, the number of points you earn from killing another player rises since the competition becomes tighter. This means that even if you don’t win but get a lot of kills, you can still rank up or earn a lot of points to counteract that loss.

The number of points Fortnite you earn is also dependent on how your opponent is ranked. If you manage to kill a higher-ranked player, that will earn you even more points compared to others of the same or lower rank than you. Points are also earned based off of your overall performance such as how much damage you dealt versus took, or even how many materials you collected. The best way to play ranked is to last as long as you can while not playing too safe to guarantee as many Fortnite points as possible. Winning Battle Royale isn’t everything when playing Fortnite ranked.

Higher Ranks

As you go higher up the Fortnite ranks, the harder it’ll be to rank up even more. The competition gets pretty steeped in ranked especially with a game as popular as Fortnite. Once you reach the higher ranks such as the Diamond tiers, that should be the time when you start aiming to be in the top 10-20 players alive during Battle Royale matches at the minimum. Losing any earlier than this can be detrimental to your rank at this point, so it’s best to play a bit more cautiously while still going for more kills as well.

At the point that you reach the Fortnite Diamond tiers, you are playing with the most experienced and skilled players in Fortnite around the world. However, this also means that you are one of the best too! Knowing this, take the time to know your competition by either paying attention to how others play during your matches or through videos. You can even head back to casual matches to help you practice new skills that you learn along the way. Good luck!
