Its display is a huge improvement over the Pixel 2 XL’s OLED screen, and it does a much better job of keeping colors true. There is also less purple smear, which can be a problem on some other phones.
In my short time with the Pixel 3 XL, I have found it to be a very pleasant phone to use. It does not feel like a plasticky phone, and it is very responsive and fast.
The only problem I’ve had with it is the lack of RAM, which in my experience can be a real issue. There are plenty of Android rivals that offer 6GB or 8GB RAM, and it would be nice to have that option here.
This is a moderate upgrade over the Pixel 2 XL, and it brings the latest Android software and improvements to its AI-powered platform. It has a faster processor, improved battery life, and a camera that can take beautiful photos in any light.
It is a no-compromises device that’s a great choice for anyone who loves Android and wants to make sure they have the most recent version of it. But, if you are looking for more features or want to butthead against the Samsung Galaxy S9, this isn’t the phone for you.
2. Google Pixel 3
Whether you’re looking to upgrade from your existing Pixel or just want a new smartphone, the Google Pixel 3 is an excellent choice. It’s got the latest version of Android and a number of great features designed to help you manage your phone use more efficiently.
The Pixel 3 was launched at the end of a year filled with some of the best smartphones on the market, but it still managed to stand out from the crowd. From its single lens camera to its sleek design, it proved that Google wasn’t a one-trick pony and that its focus on user experience could compete with the best of the competition.
If you’re looking for a smartphone that’s just as capable but less expensive than the Pixel 3, the Google Pixel 3 Lite might be worth considering. A video review from a Ukrainian tech website has leaked online, revealing that the phone can take photos with the same quality as the Pixel 3.

3. Google Pixel 3 XL Lite
Google’s Pixel phones have long been known for their excellent cameras, and the upcoming Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite are expected to offer great camera performance at a lower price point. They should also have better performance and battery life than the standard Pixel devices.
The new Lite variants of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will have plastic bodies that are similar to their higher-end sibling, but they’ll ditch dual front-facing speakers and dual selfie cameras in favor of a single snapper. They should be powered by less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, and they’ll likely have lower-end storage options and cheaper modems.
In addition, the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL will have a smaller display than their flagship brothers. This will make them look a bit dated, but they’ll also be easier to hold.
We can expect a 5.5-inch full HD+ LCD screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It’s likely to use a less expensive display technology, and it’ll probably come with an option to tweak the colors and contrast.
It’ll also have a single rear camera, which is likely to be a lot more affordable than the Pixel 3’s dual-camera setup. It will also feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is missing from all Pixel devices since 2017.

While the phone doesn’t scream luxury like the iPhone XS Max, it does have a very nice feel in the hand. That’s because the device is made from a largely glass body, and the two-tone look means you can choose between a glossy finish up top and a frosted matte one down.
That’s a welcome change from last year’s Pixel 2 XL, which felt plasticky and cheap to the touch. You’ll also find a single rear camera with a fixed focus and a large f/1.8 lens.
As with the Pixel 2 XL, you get a beautiful 6.3-inch QHD+ display on the Pixel 3 XL, which is incredibly sharp and colorful. It’s slightly recessed into the edge-to-edge design of the smartphone, making it more comfortable to hold in one hand than last year’s model.
There are three color modes to tweak the display, ranging from natural (which tends to portray flatter, more neutral tones) to adaptive (which dials up the contrast) to boosted (which makes things appear darker and sharper). While these colors aren’t perfect, they’re definitely better than those on the Pixel 2 XL.
The Pixel 3 XL is powered by the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 processor, which can’t match Apple’s A12 Bionic chip for sheer speed or graphical performance, but it does manage to deliver smooth and fluid gaming experiences. There are some minor issues with the processor, such as app shutdowns while playing PUBG Mobile or other games, but they’re not severe enough to derail your experience.
5. Google Pixel 3 XL Essential
The Pixel 3 XL Essential is the flagship model of Google’s new lineup, and it’s an excellent choice for users who want a big-screen smartphone with a great camera. It’s not a cheap phone, but it comes with everything you need to get started including an impressive set of features and the latest version of Android.
The Pixel 3 has a sharp 6.3-inch display with a 2,960 x 1,440 resolution, which is crisp enough to read outdoors and is very bright compared to other phones on the market (though you’ll want to max out the brightness). Its colors pop incredibly well in all lighting conditions, and viewing angles are good too.
As far as cameras go, the Pixel 3 XL is one of the best camera phones we’ve reviewed. The dual cameras are accurate and snap photos quickly, with no latency or blurring.
Despite a few hiccups, the Pixel 3 XL is a solid choice for people who want a top-notch camera with a large screen and excellent battery life. It’s also an extremely well-optimized phone, with fast software updates and an improved build quality.
You can buy the Pixel 3 XL for $1,129 for the 64GB model and an extra $130 will let you boost it to 128GB. This puts it in the same price range as the LG V40 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and just under the base price of the iPhone XS.
The Pixel 3 XL is one of the most important phones on the market this year, and it deserves a closer look. It has a better design than the Pixel 2 XL, an excellent camera and a great software experience. However, it’s missing a few key things that the Note 9 has in spades and its battery life is mediocre at best.
